24 Hour Relay

General Information

The Race will begin at 2:00 pm on May 9, 2014. The entire event will take place  on the Del Oro High School track. The entrance to the track is located off Boyington Rd Loomis, CA.

How do I sign up a team? Team Leaders will register the team online at www.GoTheDistanceRun.com. Registration closes May 2, 2014 at midnight. To register your team you only need to put down a $100 deposit, choose a team name. Team Leaders will be emailed with a link with  further instruction and forms to complete registration for their team. This will include choosing team shirt color, obtaining liability waivers from the rest of the team and turning them in along with final payment no later than May 7th at packet pickup at Del Oro track. Divisions: There are 4 divisions. Open Division teams may consist of a maximum of 10 runners. Loomis Middle school kids teams may be 20 runners. Teacher/Staff teams are 20 runners (open to LUSD and Del Oro only). The Ultraman Division is one solo runner.

Cost: The entry fee is $1000 for open division , middle school and Ultraman teams and $200 for staff teams. 

Age requirement: The minimum age to participate on a 24-hour relay team is 15 or enrolled in high school. LUSD Middle School students are the only exception to this rule and they may participate on 20 person middle school teams only.

How it works: One runner per team may be on the track at a time and must carry the team’s timing chip that records the completed laps. Runners may pass the chip to another team member whenever they choose but must be in the transition area just past the start finish/line. At he start finish line there is a timing chip scanner on the infield of the track. In order for the scanner to record you lap it must be able to see the number on your timing chip. It can see it from 30 feet away so there is no need to swipe the chip in front of the scanner just be sure it is visible as you pass by it.   

How does this benefit the schools? All entry fee proceeds will be donated to a school of your choice from Loomis School District/Del Oro. 

The event will begin with a pep rally with the entire Del Oro student body in the stands cheering on as all participants will join in running the first lap. Please encourage your entire team to be there for the exciting start of this race. It is our hope that the families of participants and the Loomis community will join us at the pep rally for the ceremonial kick off to this race. Rally begins at 1:30.
 
Camp set up and infield access

Teams are encouraged to camp in the infield area during the event.  Camp set up can begin on Friday morning, May 9th between 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. (please note, there is no security therefore valuable items should not be left. Suggested camp items: EZ ups, lounge chairs, tables, sleeping bags, tents, camp decorations. Please note: There will be no staking on the turf fields and no fire pits of any kind. Please ensure your area is completely clean when you leave.

Only registered runners, volunteers and 5 registered guests per team will be allowed on the infield. Runners and volunteers will get a permanent bracelet that will allow them access for the entire event. Each team will receive 5 removable bracelets which will allow different guests throughout the event. Guests must have a bracelet and register when entering the track and runners and volunteers must show their bracelet.


Volunteers

This event requires many volunteers to run smoothly and volunteering is the ticket for a family member or friend who is not running on a relay team to join you at your camp in the infield. An email will go out to all participants prior to the event where they can sign up to help and get their volunteer access bracelet. We will also have a live link to sign up on this website as the event gets closer.

 
Tech Race shirts
 
Each team will choose a team name when registering. Team names will be printed on the back of the tech race shirt. If your team has a logo that can be on the back of your shirt as well. A variety of colors will be available for your selection.  Colors are available on a first come first serve basis. You will be contacted after you register to select a color. Team shirts and wristbands must be worn during the race. Other appropriate costume accessories are welcome.
 
  
Facilities

Del Oro High School, 3301 Taylor Rd. Loomis. The track is easily accessible off Boyington Road. The school will have restrooms available, ample parking and lighting on the track. The track is .25 of a mile all-weather track. 

There will be a snack bar with snacks and drinks throughout the event and dinner, breakfast and lunch will be available for a fee.
 
 
Awards
 
The Open Division team with the most miles will be awarded a prize.

The winning middle school team will win the perpetual GTD trophy.

This race will take place rain of shine, no refunds will be granted.
